Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Worker Job Description
Primary Role: To further the mission of Garrett Williamson by ensuring the timely maintenance, repair and/or alteration of Garrett Williamson buildings, amenities, grounds, vehicles and equipment in a safe and economical fashion and by implementing best practices in doing so.
Immediate Supervisor: Director of Buildings and Grounds
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain the Garrett Williamson property, buildings, residences, vehicles and amenities and resolve safety issues in a timely manner
- Grass cutting and trimming
- Snow removal- shoveling, plowing and salting
- Painting and paint preparation
- Safe use of equipment and tools, including but not limited to: skid loader, tractors, mowers, gators, power tools
- Landscaping, including but not limited to: digging, raking, planting, mulching, debris removal
- Assure that grounds are clear and safe in all weather situations
- Monitor, maintain and winterize the pool house, pool and well system
- Assure the continuing compliance with building codes and safety regulations by conducting regular inspections of all buildings, equipment, vehicles and amenities
- Monitor and report short and long-range equipment needs
- Must be available to work as needed on weekdays, weeknights, weekends, and Holidays
- Create and maintain positive business and working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, families and program participants, vendors and the community
Qualifications, Skills, and Ability:
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, painting, mechanical, and landscape management skills are desirable
- Prior experience operating light and heavy equipment desirable
- Valid Driver’s License

Physical/Cognitive Requirements of the Essential Job Functions: This position requires the ability to lift and maneuver at least 50 pounds, safely use heavy equipment, power and hand tools, move about the property in various environmental conditions, listen to others, observe others’ actions and take corrective actions when necessary, read text and information, comprehend and follow instructions and manuals.
