Agriculture Educational Programs
Through unique, immersive experiences, AgEd programs spark curiosity, foster compassion, and creates community between learner, animals, and our environment.
Youth and their families can meander through the Barn on Family Farmyards; Dive deeper into agriculture, engaging with the land during Farm Field Trips; learn responsibility and veterinary science by providing the care for our Farm Friends as an Animal Care Co-Op member. We also offer an Intro to Animal Care program, allowing our youngest learners (5-10yo) to become comfortable and familiar with the animals and their care.

Open to youth ages 5 and up, Intro to Animal Care is a hands-on educational program where participants learn how to care for the animals on our farm. This interactive experience fosters responsibility, teamwork, and a deeper connection to nature and agriculture. Each session includes feeding the animals, providing fresh water, mucking pastures, and other essential animal care tasks.
We offer Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall sessions, with each series running for 8 weeks on Wednesdays. Participants can register per session or enroll for the full series at a discounted rate.
Closed-toe shoes are required, and we recommend dressing in layers as our property is often cooler and windier than surrounding areas.

Farm Explorers Club is a year-round co-op program designed for youth ages 5 and up who are interested in learning how to care for farm animals in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment.
Members work with smaller animals, including alpacas and rabbits, while learning the fundamentals of animal husbandry through hands-on experiences. Participants help feed the animals, provide fresh water, clean animal spaces, monitor animal well-being, and complete other essential daily chores.
Through these experiences, members develop confidence, responsibility, teamwork, empathy, and a deeper appreciation for agriculture and the natural world.
Farm Explorers Club is the perfect next step for children who are ready to move beyond introductory experiences and begin participating in a year-round co-op program.

The Animal Care Co-Op is a year-round co-op program for youth ages 8 and up who are ready to take on greater responsibility while caring for livestock on our farm.
Members choose the animal(s) they would like to care for and complete the required chores associated with those animals throughout the program year. Working alongside staff and fellow members, participants gain hands-on experience in animal husbandry, livestock management, and daily farm operations.
Members have opportunities to care for sheep, goats, and seasonal pigs, while learning advanced skills including animal health, nutrition, grooming, hoof care, breeding education, and farm management.
As members gain experience, they also have opportunities to learn from veterinarians and agricultural professionals, participate in community events and animal shows, and mentor younger participants.
The Animal Care Co-Op helps participants build confidence, leadership, responsibility, and a lifelong appreciation for agriculture through meaningful, hands-on experiences.

Garrett Williamson’s Camp Garrett provides an Agriculture Education Track program tailored for campers aged 8 to 12.
The program focuses on safe and enjoyable activities within the Barn and Garden for the first half of the day, offering a unique and educational experience while enjoying the camp’s regular programming in the afternoon.

No matter the time of year, we know you will enjoy your birthday adventure in our barns, pastures, gardens, and trails to discover the amazing world around you. Party down with your cake, candles and presents in our meeting room or enjoy the farm-fresh air at the picnic tables, overlooking the pastures & woods. Bring your favorite humans and let the animals help you celebrate down at the Barn!

Maximum participants: 20
$10 additional for any children over the maximum.
Cost: $475
Program duration: 2.5 hours – one hour for festivities and one hour for Farm activities (not in that order). This includes a half hour for guest arrival.

Families and friends – come visit the Garrett Williamson Farm:

Similar to an open house, families can visit our 200+ year old Barn and observe our sheep, alpacas, horse, & goats. (Pigs welcome visitors April and May)
As an educational production Farm, we prioritize the animals’ safety & well-being. These animals give us so much and as Farmers, it is our responsibility to steward the best possible life. Visitors will be able to visit the animals from outside their pastures.
As long as the weather is safe, this outdoor event will still take place – snow, wind, & sunshine! (So please dress accordingly; layers are key!)
The cost is $8 per adult & child; children under 2yo are free.
Bring Learning to Life at Garrett Williamson!
Give your students an unforgettable, hands-on experience at our working farm! Our immersive field trips connect children with nature, agriculture, and food systems in a fun and engaging way. Students will explore what plants and animals need to grow, discover local agriculture, and learn about the vital role of soil—all while meeting farm animals, exploring the garden, using tools for farm tasks, hiking through nature trails, and investigating wetlands and ecosystems. These interactive experiences make learning come alive while fostering curiosity and a deeper connection to the environment.
Cost: $20 per student
Chaperones: Up to 10 adults free; additional adults $5 each
Group Size: Up to 3 classrooms per trip (30 students per class) – multiple trips available each week

History
Garrett Williamson built the Videon Educational Garden (VEG) in 2015 on a half acre of the campus. Since its installation, the garden has expanded to include a produce processing station, outdoor classroom space and a bee program. The garden itself is home to over 100 varieties of produce. In addition to growing many fruits, vegetables, plants, and herbs that are often distributed to our families, the garden has become a focal point for our environmental education program featuring land stewardship and conscious nutrition.
Mission
Over 350 students and campers, ages 3-15, as well as parents and staff get to plant, harvest, and learn in the garden. The goal of the garden is to grow excitement about fresh and local foods, a taste for produce and healthy options, and a passion for plants.

Out of School Time (OST) Days at Garrett Williamson
Join us for a day of hands-on learning and fun at Garrett Williamson! Our Out of School Time (OST) Days provide engaging, nature-based experiences for children on select days when school is closed. Mornings are filled with animal encounters and nature exploration, while afternoons include garden activities and a fun make-your-own snack session. Children should bring a peanut-free lunch.
