Kindergarten Cooking Club

Sponsored by Whole Foods.
Garrett Williamson ran a cooking club for 10 weeks from January 18th to March 22nd! Check out what new recipes our Kindergarten made during the winter of 2023!

Miso Soup! -February 8th
Fermented foods are good for your gut! We assembled a simplified miso soup with wakame, miso, scallions, and silken tofu. We talked about koji—the mold that is used to ferment the soybeans to make miso paste and we made the connection that mold is one of our compost critters!

Nut Butter Spread and Banana, on a Slice of Bread! - February 1st
These are Farmer Amanda’s mom’s favorite snack! Our easy snack recipe this week was nut butter spread on bread with sliced bananas. We ate whole pumpkins seeds and made our snack today with pumpkin seed butter! One of our kindergarteners rated this snack not just a thumbs up, but all fingers up 😊

Learning Knife Skills - January 25th
Students practiced their knife skills to prepare a healthy, easy snack that they can make at home! We had local apples, and local cheese from farms in Lancaster County, and raw honey.

Homemade Soft Pretzels - January 18th
Students worked together and followed a recipe for homemade soft pretzels.!
