Archery Coordinator Job Description

Primary Role: To further the mission of Camp Garrett by developing and delivering archery activities that are safe, fun, and age appropriate. The successful Summer Camp Archery Program Coordinator will instruct campers in safety protocols and implement best practices to teach skill and discipline in archery and tomahawk throwing.

Immediate Supervisor:  Camp Director

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and deliver an archery program that is appropriate for the age and ability of the campers ages 5-15
    • Communicate and enforce safety and educational procedures at the beginning of every archery activity block to both campers and staff
    • Maintain active surveillance of persons in and near the archery range
    • Identify and implement appropriate response to hazards affecting the archery range or safety of shooters/throwers
    • Conduct daily checks of the area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair, submitting order requests when necessary
    • Create and maintain positive business and working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, families, campers and the community

Qualifications, Skills, and Ability:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Current certification in archery instruction, first aid, CPR, and AED
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience leading archery activities
  • Experience working with children and young adults
  • Desire and ability to work with children outdoors

Other Job Duties:

  • Participate in camp activities, programs and meetings, including staff meetings
  • Assist in general maintenance and upkeep of Camp and shared facilities
  • All other duties as assigned

Physical/Cognitive Requirements of the Essential Job Functions: This position requires the ability to perform immediate and appropriate rescues to any person in need at or in the pool. This position also requires the ability to listen to others, observe others’ actions and take corrective actions when necessary, read text and information; comprehend instructions and manuals. It also requires the physical ability to move about the camp property in various environmental conditions.
