Healthcare Provider Job Description

Primary Role: To further the mission of Camp Garrett through providing medical care and support to campers and staff, as well as managing the First Aid Station and providing guidance in health and wellness matters.

 

Immediate Supervisor: Camp Director

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Care for and provide First Aid to campers and staff in need and respond to medical emergencies
  • Communicate with families about campers’ health and educate campers, staff and parents about health and wellness related issues
  • Supervise health and cleanliness standards and keep thorough records of care provided
  • Review all camper health forms upon arrival at camp and alert counselors of campers’ special needs and pertinent medical information
  • Manage supplies and inventory of First Aid Station and Kits and place new orders when necessary
  • Support staff with first aid related questions or issues for campers
  • Manage allergies with kitchen and communicate pertinent medical info to group leaders regarding campers in their care
  • Establish allergy protocols and supervise lunch periods to ensure campers and staff are not accidentally exposed to allergens
  • Create and maintain positive business and working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, families, campers, and the community

Qualifications, Skills, and Ability:

  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR
  • 1 or more years’ experience responding to pediatric emergencies
  • Preferred license in PA as a registered Nurse OR Licensed Practical Nurse OR Emergency Medical Technician
  • Desire and ability to work with children outdoors

Other Job Duties:

  • Participate in camp activities, programs and meetings, including staff meetings
  • Assist in general maintenance and upkeep of Camp and shared facilities
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Physical/Cognitive Requirements of the Essential Job Functions: This position requires the ability to listen to others, observe others’ actions and take corrective actions when necessary, read text and information; comprehend instructions and manuals. It also requires the physical ability to move about the camp property in various environmental conditions.
